Plant and Facilities Services   

    Our Plant and Facilities Services offers an array of programs to assist healthcare institutions to reduce costs, enhance resource utilization, and improve services.  Each engagement is carefully tailored to meet the needs of the specific healthcare institution.  Our efforts are focused to provide our clients the maximum benefit on every consulting engagement. Operations Assessment Services

Are Plant and Facilities Services designed and operating effectively? Our experts will conduct an analysis of the various aspects of plant and facilities services (i.e., Environmental Services, Linen and Laundry, Biomedical Engineering, Maintenance, Grounds, Plant Operations, Construction, etc.). By utilizing a functional approach, we can develop a systems perspective of operations to identify strengths and weaknesses. We will provide processes to objectively measure service provision (e.g., customer service surveys), identify opportunities to manage and enhance service levels and re-engineer processes to assure higher levels of perceived and actual service provision. We will help the Plant and Facilities Services staff understand and practice proactive customer management behaviors. The outcome of these efforts will be a greater degree of customer satisfaction.

Procurement Services

Is your organization buying effectively? Procurement practices are often a major area of concern for Plant and Facilities Services. Regardless of the procurement method or degree of centralization, PECA can assess current methods for efficiency and pricing competitiveness. By using historical product consumption along with our extensive database of over 40,000 individual products, we will compare current price  schedules to those available from group purchasing organizations and corporate agreement alternatives. We can also study the efficiency of the ordering process, as well as the reconciliation of the pricing and terms to the invoice, purchase order and published purchasing agreements.  We can also review the purchasing practices to assure proper internal controls are established and maintained.

Inventory Management Services

Do you have the right amount of inventory? Inventory represents a buffer between supply and demand. Accurate data can forecast the need and availability of products to shrink this buffer. We can help you reduce on-hand inventories! Using statistical analysis, we will measure inventory throughput by commodity and by location, develop strategies for reduction and establish monitoring systems to ensure inventory levels remain low. We can also serve as an agent to negotiate with vendors to return excess inventories for credit.

Linen and Laundry Services

Are your linen and Laundry Services providing high service levels while maintaining competitive cost? Regardless of whether you have laundry services on-site or purchase this service, we can maximize the value of Linen and Laundry Service. We can identify strengths and weaknesses in your current systems and re-engineer processes to assure a high level of service to customer departments. We can develop linen monitoring systems to gauge service levels and identify problems in both service and consumption levels. We have extensive experience in working with customer departments to educate staff on linen practices to assure corrective actions relate to problem resolution in lieu of symptomatic relief.

Biomedical Services

Are you maximizing the value of Biomedical Engineering Services?  A strong Biomedical Engineering program can significantly reduce cost of service contracts and preventive maintenance. We can assess the current services provided by Biomedical Engineering and determine market penetration of Biomedical Engineering Services, its potential for additional absorption of services, and the cost/benefit of the alternatives. Our staff will also inventory service contracts to determine the potential to renegotiate with the original equipment manufacturer and/or third party insurance provider.

Project Management Services

Our staff can assist you in working with architects, construction engineers, interior designers, etc. to manage your construction projects. Contract Management Services

In addition, OSHA, state and local organizations, and other agencies have developed regulatory guidelines with mandatory compliance requirements. PECA can assist in developing criteria-based position descriptions that provide prescriptive and proscriptive expectations.
